Discover more about these activities and a handful of others that make our neighborhood pretty darn special.
Gingerbread Home Tour. Before the turn of the 20th century and well into the 1920’s, Waxahachie was one of the wealthiest and most influential areas of Texas thanks to the abundant cotton crop. Many of the large beautiful homes and beautiful public buildings utilized the gingerbread architectural style from which the Gingerbread Home Tour takes its name. Get an up-close-and-personal look at such historically recognized buildings as the newly-restored Ellis County Courthouse, the Ellis County Museum, Sims Library and the Ellis County Art Museum. For more information, visit www.waxahachiedowntownmerchants.com/ginger_bread.htm.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival. Savor swordplay, comedy, music and other unique entertainment on 22 stages. Witness artisans create one-of-a-kind works of art. In short, spend a dazzling day in a vivacious 16th century village. For more information, visit www.scarboroughrenfest.com  [Top]
Lake Waxahachie. Great boating and fishing abound at Lake Waxahachie. Largemouth bass are abundant, but not as large as they are in some other lakes. Due to the relatively alkaline water, channel catfish and white crappie provide excellent opportunities. Reel in the white bass, especially during springtime.
